The massage during pregnancy was a really good way to relax. I found that the night after each massage I would sleep better than usual. The positions and techniques used seemed really tailored to my pregnant state…..The massage since pregnancy has been very enjoyable and has helped with the back and neck ache I have had since my daughter was born, partly due to the labour and partly due to carrying her around in her car seat. (Jo)

Having an ongoing back problem and also a highly stressful job the experience of combined exercise and massage was extremely beneficial. The exercises were simple and enabled me to carry them out at home – this was particularly helpful in the later weeks….after each treatment usually I and the baby had a good night's sleep. The sessions helped me to have a greater awareness of my body both physically and emotionally and I believe this supported my ability to cope with what turned out to be a long and complicated labour….I was able to maintain a sense of control and calm using breathing techniques and my birth partners carried out massage / pressure / holding techniques which were relaxing and encouraged focus. I believe this prep assisted in my transition to motherhood and my son is a very relaxed baby who responds well to physical touch. I would highly recommend this approach to other women. (Julie)

It is particularly good during pregnancy to be able to totally relax, knowing that the person treating you knows just what they are doing and will not cause any harm…after each massage I have felt quite different physically, very loose and relaxed, and it has been lovely. Someone who saw me afterwards described me as ‘transformed’…..It has been a very positive experience and one I would recommend to any pregnant woman. (Jo G)

I hadnever had a full body massage before and felt slightly tentative about having one whilst pregnant but at the same time was aware that I was finding it difficult to relax and knew that there would be other benefits. Kate put me at my ease right from the start and clearly explained what she would be doing. I found her approach very professional and was confident in her ability and knowledge. At all time Kate constantly checked whether I was comfortable, rearranging pillows to make sure that my body was fully supported. The first session was excellent but made me aware of the fact that although I have felt very well through my pregnancy I wasn’t giving myself enough time to rest and relax and allow my mind and body to adjust to all the changes that were taking place. In subsequent sessions, not only was the massage superb but also the discussions that we had and the tips Kate passed on about posture, exercise, rest and relaxation. These have formed a very important part of my daily routine and were not necessarily something I would have been aware of at my antenatal classes. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kate to any of my friends. The massage sessions have been an important part of my preparation for having my baby and at this stage, 3 days before my expected due date, I feel more informed, confident and prepared than I would have done if I hadn’t had them. My 6-week old really enjoys the baby massage sessions. She has suffered with colic and it has really helped her. I enjoy it too and feel it hasreally helped us bond. It issomething my husband can be involved in as well which is great. (Suzy)

Kate's valuable knowledge of massage and birthing techniques has allowed me to achieve the birthing experience I so very wanted. With my first son, Hamish, I was induced, ended up having two epidurals
(neither which worked) and a very long and exhausting labour. My husband, Rob, had been left feeling alienated and helpless in terms of helping me cope with the pain; an experience neither of us wanted to repeat! When pregnant with my second son, Archie, I was determined to be more prepared. We therefore asked Kate to come to our home and run a Partner Workshop with us, whereby Rob and I could practise position and massage techniques for labour. Kate's advice was invaluable; not only did she empower Rob with the confidence to support me through my labour but with the knowledge we gained I managed to have a relaxing and natural birth.

P.S. I also treated myself to a relaxing full body massage once a month from 20 weeks too - total bliss and highly recommended for any mum-to-be! (Lisa)
